Summary:
Would you like to lessen how often you have to refer your clients to more skilled therapists?
Learn how to find individual muscles, establish their planes of movement, how to lengthen and shorten them and their origin and insertion points. Learn how to use simple assessment techniques that enable the therapist to focus on the cause of the problem and bring relief to both acute and chronic conditions such as frozen shoulders, sciatica, shoulder-impingment, and chronic back-problems.
Overview
This Remedial & Sports Injuries Massage course was our first Post-graduate Course in the early 1990’s and, in response to valuable student-feedback, it has evolved considerably over the years. We wrote it in collaboration with Paul Blakey (author of ‘the muscle book’) and it was originally solely based on his book (reading it is still a pre-requisite before attending the course).
We learn about how to find individual muscles, establish their planes of movement, how to lengthen and shorten them and their origin and insertion points. We cover muscle nutrition, an introduction to postural analysis, trigger points and neuro-vascular holding points. We include additional remedial techniques for each muscle group and learn how to recommend either stretching/strengthening exercises for recovering muscles working antagonistically. The course-notes include plenty of illustrations to which the student can refer; enabling the student to easily refresh the techniques we have covered on the course.
Remedial approaches to treatments equip the Therapist with a broad set of tools which assist with deep set such problems. e.g. frozen shoulders, sciatica, back-problems, whiplash injuries etc. The remedial massage techniques shown are simple and effective and the course also explores which Essential Oils are the most useful in support of remedial and sport injury treatments.
