About Us

Our aim is to assist practitioners to be holistic in their perceptions, outlook and practice, by offering courses that teach the best of both eastern and western approaches to assessment and treatment.

Our reputation for delivering the highest standards of training and qualifications has gradually built since our inception in 1986. We uphold this position by maintaining the solid foundation of holism that has always permeated TSI - our internal structure, our teaching methods and our courses. We intentionally limit places on our courses to afford students individual support during their studies - putting the student's well-being at the centre of their learning experience.

Why is this our approach? We know from experience that for students to become proficient at working with their clients holistically, they need to further their own Self Exploration, Education & Development (S.E.E.D.) and for this, individual tutor support is fundamental to success.

Established for over 35 years, The S.E.E.D. Institute was originally founded as an Aromatherapy and Complementary Medicine School in 1986. We have expanded and evolved during this time and in addition to our accredited Clinical Aromatherapy Diploma we now offer a Core Massage Training qualification (accepted by the I.F.P.A and most other associations) Post-graduate Ayurvedic Training, Taster Courses and over 50 Post-graduate/CPD Courses/Qualifications.

Our Founders

John & Alison Perrott Introducing Alison & John Perrott - both Founder-Members of The S.E.E.D. Institute. Alison originally trained with Shirley Price Aromatherapy and then went on to train as a Kinesiologist, an electro crystal therapist, a Reiki Practitioner and a Bowen therapist before working together with John and Susan Hagan to create The S.E.E.D. Institute over 36 years ago.

Our Core Massage Qualification, Clinical Aromatherapy Diploma and many of our Post-graduate Courses have been created by our founders, bringing their wealth of experience not only in Aromatherapy, Ayurveda and Advanced Massage disciplines but, in addition, their vast knowledge of 'holism' which is at the foundation of all of our core courses.

Alison and John handed the reins of Owner/Principal to John's daughter - Jane Rose in 2014. For many years Alison maintained the role of Moderator for all of the Distance-learning Courses for T.S.I. and I.F.P.A. Examiner, retiring completely in 2024.

For many years John was a guide of the Fourth Way - passing away in 2024. This profound Fourth Way influence built a solid foundation of holism that continues to permeate TSI's courses, objectives and overall aim.

Susan Hagan Susan Hagan lived in Nepal for many years where she trained in Ayurveda and, on returning to to England, also trained with Shirley Price Aromatherapy. Su, together with Alison, created our Ayurvedic Courses and we are extremely fortunate to be able to offer students Ayurvedic Courses from so close to the source. Su now lives in Portugal where she maintains her Bowen practice and continues to teach Bowen and Mcloughlin Scar Workshops internationally.

Principal Tutor

Jane Rose Principal and Principal Tutor of the Therapeutic Division of The S.E.E.D Institute, Jane qualified in Clinical Aromatherapy in 1997. After practising for a few years, her youngest son was taken ill with severe mental health problems and Jane temporarily gave up her practice to care for him. This very challenging and personal journey enabled Jane to explore the deep and profound connections between mental, emotional and physical health; the balance of which is fundamental to our well-being. Jane's holistic Aromatherapy and Ayurvedic training encapsulates these concepts and forms the foundation of all consultations.

As TSI's Principal Tutor, Jane teaches all of our Ayurvedic Courses, Advanced Massage Courses, Remedial & Sports Massage, our Clinical Aromatherapy Diploma, Lymphatic Drainage, Pregnancy, Babies & Children, Sitting Back Massage, Aromatherapy for the Elderly, Hands-Free Massage, Chinese Foot Massage, Health Assessment Techniques and our extremely popular Return to Massage/Aromatherapy Practice. Jane is a multi-disciplined Therapist and accredited Instructor - teaching to International Diploma Standards.
